The LACTOFER Iron Formula

is a dietary supplement containing iron, lactoferrin (from cow's milk), copper and vitamins C, B9 (as folic acid), and B12 (as methylcobalamin). It contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells, hemoglobin, and normal hematopoiesis. Vitamin C increases the absorption of iron. Cooper helps transport iron throughout the body. Vitamin B12, C, B9 and iron help reduce fatigue and tiredness.

• The absorption of iron is facilitated by the presence of lactoferrin, while vitamin C increases the absorption of iron.

LACTOFERRIN (LF) is a multifunctional protein of the transferrin family

In healthy people, almost all of the iron released in plasma is associated with transferrin, limiting the production of iron-free radicals and facilitating transport to target cells. Iron can be stored intracellularly as ferritin, a spherical heteropolymer capable of storing more than 4,000 iron atoms.

But the role of iron is twofold, on the one hand, it keeps us alive and on the other, it can cause harmful effects. For this reason, organizations have developed complex mechanisms to ensure continuous control of their levels.

Another protein, similar to transferrin, is lactoferrin, which is present in the LACTOFER Iron Formula and found in milk and some other normal fluids. It is also released by the phagocytes after their stimulation, possibly to neutralize the diffusion of the harmful effect of the active forms of oxygen on nearby healthy tissue sections. Like transferrin, it has the ability to bind two Fe3 + atoms per molecule of protein.

Lactoferrin plays a key role in a number of first-line defense mechanisms and contributes to a variety of physiological responses both at the cell level and at the organ level. Lactoferrin plays a key role in immune homeostasis and works to reduce oxidative stress on a molecular level, thus controlling excessive inflammatory responses.
